Preston market. Great place, great variety, great people. Fresh produce (some good seafood places — mmmm tassie oysters), weird stuff, cheap stuff. Just one thing: if driving, get there early to get a park.

Location:

preston

What I thought was great were the middle eastern eateries where everyone sat around socialising in the sunshine…..there was a sense of relaxation and friendliness that we don’t see on this side of the city….No one really “knows” their neighbours or the next table!…..To speak to a stranger is the exception rather than the rule…we loved it there…..

I have been going to the market, for years ever since i can remember lol, about 30 years. I find that parking at safeway opposite is a good option, and its always a good idea to take a trolley as you always end up buying more than you expect!!!… Great for early morning saturday i think about 12 is when you can pick up the meat bargains…

Preston is a fantastic place to shop it has a large varitey of casual and permanant stores. You can expect to get bargains on fruit/veg, clothes, meat/fish, jewlerry, vodafone mobile phones/products, pet shop, hot donuts and a large variety of food around the food court, pharmacy, record store, and heaps heaps more

Yes, I can’t believe the prices there. I was there on Saturday and picked up a kilo of big fresh uncooked banana prawns for $14.99. BARGAIN! Had em in a simple paella, delish. And lovely looking atlantic salmon for $16 a kilo - the supermarkets charge bewteen $22 and $31 a kilo for it and the fish doesn’t look as good. All the fish was cheap and they were doing a roaring trade.
